When I Got The Music

I spend most nights alone. I prefer the company of my own thoughts over that of mindless chatter. Most times I sit in silence without a thought in my head. The fading cigarette, the remaining sip of bourbon are my only companions. And I welcome them at each encounter. The quiet music gently dancing about the room like a lost spirit is the only sound I hear. I begin to fade into my own mind, but the next song starts to play. Thunderous drums, deep bass, and screeching guitar bring me back to the living. The poison coursing through my veins quickly becomes an afterthought and I am lost. My mind carries my spirit to another place, another time. There is no God nor Devil here, only I remain immersed in the sounds of passion, love, hate, depression, joy, and death. Only, I have never felt more alive. I am lost to the world, but more aware than I have ever been. I have peace in a raging war with no end. So few have been where I am in this moment. The rhythm sweeps me into melody’s warm embrace. I float high above the world I created. Then at the peak of my existential mountain top, I am deafened with static. All emotion is lost and I return to my smoke and drink, the poisons I hold dear, the loneliness of my own mind. Back to my own existence, back to the world I reject. Another night lost to my own world. Reality shows it horrifying face and I drift to sleep until I can return to the place where my spirit waits for me.

Goodnight Blackbird

Goodnight Blackbird
Fly high among the Gods
Fear not the decaying Earth
Be free within the stars
Let nothing hold you down
Fly free with no regard
The Earth around you crumbles
But your wings will hold strong
Trust in what you have
And you can never be led wrong
Goodnight Blackbird
Fly high among the Gods
Let them watch down upon you
As you defy all of their odds
Take those who are lost
And safely guide them home
Venture to the battle feild
Gathering Damned souls
Listen to their battle cries
And release them to the Throne
Goodnight Blackbird
Fly high among the Gods
I know you will protect me
My life will never be lost
Whenever you guide me
I shall find my way
I will return
Before the break of day

Faithless

Cookie cutter
Safety net
Perfect picket fences
Faith for the faithless
Hide your shame
Washit all away
Start again
Start anew
Keep your lies

Little Black Bird

I could sit alone,
Forever in the darkness.
But it will always find me
My little black bird.
No matter how free she could be
She always returns to me
And with me she stays
My little black bird
Always by my side
Wherever I may go
Never leaving
Always perched, watching
My little black bird
I am never lost
Nor am I fearful
She guides me to joy
My little black bird
Always in my heart
Always on my mind
Always clears my skies
My little black bird.

Sweet Devil

The drink is heavy
The drink is slow
The drink can take you places
You never thought you’d go
Some are dark, others light
It always leads to adventure
If the mood is right
It can take you down
Deep into the depths
Or it can softly whisper
And surround you with Angels breaths
It can fill you with amazement
And philosophical wonder
Or fill you with sickness
And everlasting slumber
I have seen these things
And know them to be true
I raise my glass, and nod my head
So slam them down
Before the Devil knows you’re dead.

Done For Me

There is only you
There is only me
You start your own fires
And fan their growing flames
You let them go out
or burn on forever
I start explosions
They will not be wiped out
My heart, my determination
Will never let them cease

Everything that I have done
Has been done for me
No, I will not back down
I stand up to be free
I have earned these battle scars
That you will never see
I stand up tall and live my life
I do this to be me

My world burns bright
You are left to your darkness
I create my own power
You let them hold yours
My voice will be heard
My meaning will be known
You will be stifled
Your memory fades away

Everything that I have done
Has been done for me
No, I will not back down
I stand up to be free
I have earned these battle scars
That you will never see
I stand up tall and live my life
I do this to be me

There are the ones that I hold dear
They are the ones I love
In my heart they will always be
No one gets held above
My message is loud
My message is clear
I take pride in who I am
I will not live in fear

Everything that I have done
Has been done for me
No, I will not back down
I stand up to be free
I have earned these battle scars
That you will never see
I stand up tall and live my life
I do this to be me

Untitled Pieces

“When a man is torn he stops to recollect and rethink all possiblities.
was this the right decision? would I go back? was it worth it? when it
is worth it and done right it is the best feeling in the world. but
still, a choice has to be made. that choice has been made. there is no
looking back, only forward. on to tomorrow and on passed that. the past is the past and this man’s eyes are on the future.” -DMFK

“These beasts that feed from within do not know the pain that they
cause, they feed and feed until there is nothing left. Unlike the
parasite, they care not whether or not they kill the host, only that
their needs are met, and will meet those needs by any means possible.
These beasts that feed from within won’t stop until they consume the
very fabric of life that makes them be. Suicidal are these beasts, and
they destroy until they destroy themselves.” –DMFK

Conflagration of Purification

Build the fire up
And watch the world burn
Scatter the ashes
Of the once tall empire
Nothing can be reborn
Only the flames continue to grow
Let it burn around you
And come crashing down
Hate fuels the rage
And there is constant supply
The destruction will not cease
Chaos is the only absolute
Social walls fall to rubble
Only scraps remain
Pride has no power here
The fire has wiped it all away
There are no bonds
Only burning liberation
Peace comes after it goes out
But the flames hold freedom

Deep In a Grave

Lost within a dream, he experiences all the things he has missed while conscious. The world around him distorts and brightens. The sights, the sounds, and the touch all bend to his will. He is in control. Deep in the back of his mind, there is a door. It is keeping something in, but he wants to set it free. The exuberant colors and the shifting features of his new world fight against him opening the door. They know what it contains, they have seen it before. The ground he walks on softens and rolls like waves in the sea. It’s trying to push him back, to keep him away, but he presses on. He has never battled against anything with this much intensity. He must win out against his own mind and reach the door. The door is freedom, the door is his release. The brightness of his inner world intensifies and disorients him. He becomes lost within himself. He refocuses on his task and presses on. He will reach the door or perish along the journey. He lets go of his fears and doubts, and heads directly for the door. The world he created will not be able to stop him now. His illusion begins to diminish. The door becomes reachable, and it has opened. Darkness overtakes the vibrancy. He now understands what has always been known, and why it was locked away. He is alone. He falls into the darkened solitude. The door closes and he remains within. He is lost in the darkness he unknowingly, desperately sought.

Riverview

The audience filed in to fill the seats
Each member was filled with anticipation
As they were seated, the ushers closed the doors
The show was soon to start
The lights began to dim and the projector flickered to life
On the screen, the life of every audience member began to play
Everyone saw something different, but it was all the same
From birth, to the moment they entered the theatre was on display
Some wept, others looked away, but their lives kept playing
The picture slowed to a stop
The lights came back on
The doors were opened
The ushers came in with their brooms
The empty theatre needed to be cleaned
The next show would start soon

Dust and Ash

The canyon is filled with smoke
Screams of rage surround the hills
Whispers fill the trees
The loneliness of the Earth settles with the dust
Silence sweeps in
He will not be your savior
Flames erupt around you
All you can do is watch
Listen to the world fade away
The end is nowhere near
This is just the beginning
The darkness overtakes all light
He warned you
In laughter you tremble and fall
It consumes all
Don’t let them take you
Escape into the hills
The trees echo your cries
But you are alone
Holding dust and ash
