Hailing from the desert landscape of Las Vegas, Not For Sale are making their label debut with a self titled EP on Asteroid M Records. The small label features Southwest Regional bands and welcomes all mutants and outcasts! Not For Sale has been at it for a couple years now, and has a YouTube full of videos, but this is the first outing with the full band and a physical release. The previous self released albums are some true DIY acoustic punk rock, and it would be interesting to see if those songs eventually get re-recorded into an album released on Asteroid M Records.
The self-titled EP dives in heavy and fast with “Devil In The Mirror”. As the chaotic intro gives way to skanking build ups, the heavier pay-offs are sure to get a crowd up and moving. Not For Sale seems to pull from several generations of Punk Rock for inspiration and influence. “Devil In The Mirror” alone has aspects of Classic Hardcore, Ska-Punk, and 90s Punk Revival.
“The Story” continues that Ska-Punk feel with skanking guitar and dancing rhythm. The group sung chorus adds harmony to the gravel of the lead vocals. While the Punk Rock grit is prevalent, there is an almost vulnerability to the delivery. This one feels personal. To close, “Duck Down” is a skate punk kid’s dream. The tempo keeps the blood pumping and should be on repeat at any skate session. The lyrics however, take a bit of a darker turn and remind us of the perils of war.
Not For Sale have a style and sound that are sure to make it into any Punk Rock fans rotation. They are fast, yet know when to slow things down. They can be all out, or a more personal acoustic feel. They are definitely a band to follow, and when the opportunity arises, to see live. Not For Sale and Asteroid M Records are releasing the EP September 17th on CD, and digital download. The EP will be available on streaming services September 20th.
